All about General Dentistry
Dermal fillers are essentially hyaluronic acid (HA) which is a naturally occurring collagen found in the body. Our stores of this compound deplete as we age and therefore skin becomes less supple and can wrinkle easily. As it is a naturally occurring compound within the body it is safe to use and allergic reactions are very rare.
Dermal fillers replace lost volume in the skin and depending on where the product is injected will give you a more youthful appearance by plumping out the skin and improving its elasticity.
Dermal fillers come in a variety of thicknesses so they can be targeted to specific areas of the face and be tailored to the individual. For example, deep Nasolabial lines (nose to mouth) may need a thick particle filler as this will need to be injected deeper into the layers of the dermis (skin), but for fine lines around the mouth or eyes, a very fine particle filler would be best as this is injected more superficially.
Common areas that can be treated with dermal fillers are;
- – Nasolabial lines
- – Melolabial lines (Marionette lines)
- – Cheeks Jaw lines
- – Lips (contour and volume)
Teosyal and Restylane are a range of softer dermal fillers designed for customised and smooth integration into the skin, specifically designed to provide a good combination of tolerability profile and long-lasting correction of facial lines, contouring and volume loss or for lip enhancement.
Here at Will Murphy will be able to advise which product is suitable for your individual treatment needs and ensure the outcome is what you are looking for. Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers like Teosyal and Restylane are now seen as one of the most common treatments in correcting wrinkles, folds and loss of facial volume associated with skin ageing and external factors such as sun exposure and diet.
