All about General Dentistry
Dermal fillers are essentially hyaluronic acid (HA) which is a naturally occurring collagen found in the body. Our stores of this compound deplete as we age and therefore skin becomes less supple and can wrinkle easily. As it is a naturally occurring compound within the body it is safe to use and allergic reactions are very rare.
Dermal fillers replace lost volume in the skin and depending on where the product is injected will give you a more youthful appearance by plumping out the skin and improving its elasticity.
Dermal fillers come in a variety of thicknesses so they can be targeted to specific areas of the face and be tailored to the individual. For example, deep Nasolabial lines (nose to mouth) may need a thick particle filler as this will need to be injected deeper into the layers of the dermis (skin), but for fine lines around the mouth or eyes, a very fine particle filler would be best as this is injected more superficially.

Common areas that can be treated with dermal fillers are;
- – Nasolabial lines
- – Melolabial lines (Marionette lines)
- – Cheeks Jaw lines
- – Lips (contour and volume)
Teosyal and Restylane are a range of softer dermal fillers designed for customised and smooth integration into the skin, specifically designed to provide a good combination of tolerability profile and long-lasting correction of facial lines, contouring and volume loss or for lip enhancement.
Here at Will Murphy will be able to advise which product is suitable for your individual treatment needs and ensure the outcome is what you are looking for. Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers like Teosyal and Restylane are now seen as one of the most common treatments in correcting wrinkles, folds and loss of facial volume associated with skin ageing and external factors such as sun exposure and diet.

Facial Aesthetics FAQs
What types of facial aesthetics treatments in Birmingham do you offer at Will Murphy Dentistry?
At our Birmingham city-centre clinic, we provide a comprehensive range of facial aesthetics treatments including anti-wrinkle injections (for forehead, glabella and crow’s-feet), dermal fillers (for cheeks, nasolabial folds, lips, jawline), lip enhancement, and facial rejuvenation treatments designed to restore volume, smooth lines and enhance contours.
Are facial aesthetics treatments safe at a dental practice in Birmingham?
Yes – all facial aesthetics procedures at our Birmingham clinic are carried out by highly trained dental and aesthetic clinicians in a fully-regulated dental environment. We adhere to strict hygiene protocols, use professionally approved products, and follow industry guidelines to ensure the highest safety standards. Dr Sinem Dayanik is a leading facial aesthetic clinician who runs a training school to help other practitioners deliver treatment to the highest standards.
How long will anti-wrinkle injections last in Birmingham facial aesthetics?
In most cases, the results of anti-wrinkle injections last around 3 to 4 months, depending on individual factors such as metabolism, lifestyle and the treated area. At our Birmingham clinic, we’ll review your results and advise you when a top-up may be appropriate to maintain your desired appearance.
Does having facial aesthetics in Birmingham hurt or is there any downtime?
Discomfort is minimal—many patients describe a slight pinch during the injection. We can apply a numbing cream to make the experience more comfortable. After treatment at our Birmingham practice you may see minor redness or swelling, but most people return to normal activities very quickly.
Can I combine facial aesthetics and dental treatments in Birmingham in one visit?
Absolutely. Many patients take advantage of combining treatments at our Birmingham clinic—for example undergoing cosmetic dental work and facial aesthetics in the same appointment. This integrated approach helps achieve a “smile & confidence” makeover, saving you time and ensuring the results harmonise.
Who is suitable for facial aesthetics in Birmingham, and is there an age limit?
Facial aesthetics treatments are suitable for most healthy adults seeking improvement in facial lines, volume loss or definition. At our Birmingham clinic we carry out a full assessment to discuss your goals, medical history and suitability. There is no strict upper age limit, but treatments are tailored to each individual’s anatomy, skin condition and aesthetic vision.
What after-care is required following dermal fillers or anti-wrinkle injections in Birmingham?
After your treatment at our Birmingham city-centre clinic, you’ll receive personalised after-care advice. In general you should avoid strenuous exercise, excessive heat (saunas), and alcohol for 24 hours. For dermal fillers you may expect some mild swelling or bruising, which typically settles within a few days. We’ll provide you with full written guidance and follow-up as needed.
